I have a manual Sieg SX3L with Sk30 Spindle Taper. TL;DR: Good machine, needs some out of the box improvements to become a great machine for its size. Would recommend for a beginner if in good shape. To echo u/Ax3L_S a bit, out of the box they are "ok". Aluminium, Plastics and the like won't give you any problems.
I currently have a LMS 5500 mill (Sieg ) and was scoping out a CNC conversion. However, although the mill has been very useful, I have reached the capacity in terms of travel and rigidity a number of times and do not want to dedicate significant time or money converting to to CNC if I can upgrade to a larger mill and convert it for not much more money in conversion costs.

Aug 30, 2008. #1. Hi all, Anyone got any opinions on which mini/micro mill to go for, the taig looks slightly less rigid than the Sieg but I don't know that that is true. Also the Idea of CNC appeals to me and am in two minds over whether to go for a noncnc and convert at a later date or to go for a preconverted model.
